Well, here's a curveball for you.
Following January's co-release with Sire of Regina Spektor's stunning 'Mary Ann...', Transgressive are now teaming up with another iconic American label - Sub Pop, no less - to co-release the compelling, third album from The Shins at the start of 2007.
We're ludicrously over the moon at this proposition, and here're our two geeky, completely enthused heads explaining why:
Toby L: "They have been the most quietly important pop band of the last 10 years subverting the course of classic song structures, timeless melodies and winsome charm to produce consistantly brilliant albums."
Tim Dellow: "We're so exited to be putting out the third, and greatest to date, album from such a unique and special band, and to welcome such an important American act into the Transgressive fold."
So, there you have it. 'Wincing The Night Away', the quartet's incredible third album, will hit UK shores on Monday January 29th, with the marvellous 'Phantom Limb' acting as an advance single the week before on a very special vinyl format.
Stay tuned for more on this release... The band will be hitting UK shores
in the Spring. We'll have more as we get it! More at
http://www.theshins.com and http://www.myspace.com/theshins (where you can
also hear the aforementioned 'Phantom Limb').
Our upcoming Podcast will
feature more on this.

Its out now- a fully revamped Kerfuffle from Ladyfuzz! Newly recorded and produced by Go Team's Gareth Parton, this all-time classic is simply stupendously spiffing!
Verdant coils of harmony will twist and gather about your body, accordions toot at perfect accord, a rich and powerful sound, with the delicacy of a surgeon.
Plus there are two completely new songs- The Heartwrenching Ballad "SNOW CAKE"
(bizarrely titled just days before the hollywood movie of the same name started appearing in adverts all over town)
AND a song for getting ready to paint the city vivid shades of red: "PIRATES"...
Its available now it good record stores, so go buy it now before Santa steals everything to satisfy his peculiar redistributive
notions.
Check out the video here!

Transgressive has recently branched out into the art of cigar-chomping
hard-arsing. Also known as the Management of musical artists.
Our first exponent is the unique Johnny Flynn: a true one-off. Rather than
hype this in our usual round-about way, we'll let you get excited
yourselves. View images and his gig itinerary, and - more importantly -
hear some ace tunes at his myspace.
Talented and beautiful this boy is, and discover it for yourself next week
at the Push Bar in Soho for a headline-set at another fantastic-looking
Young & Lost club-night, or at
the Scala in December when he plays alongside Bat For Lashes.

Yes, it's now a fact. We've signed our first new band in an aeon. FOALS.
Read it. Then read it again. Sweat a little. Then rush on over to their
myspace: (http://www.myspace.com/foals) and have a listen, and do a little
dance. Infectious, rapt, intense - someone wrote on a forum earlier today
that they're like the 'disco Shellac', and we're not going to argue.
Except these are some big tunes in here. Fuller words to follow
soon, in addition to an official release-schedule announcement. We're
thrilled.

The Subways are the final addition to the mammoth TRANSGRESSIVE ROADSHOW
line-up next week.
Joining the likes of The Young Knives, Mystery Jets and Larrikin Love for
special live-sets, plus further shows from the hotly-tipped emergents
Battle, Polytechnic, Jeremy Warmsley and Ladyfuzz, plus recent/brand-new
Transgressive signings Foals and Mechanical Bride, Manchester's Warehouse
Project will be rocked to the sounds of a band who haven't played on UK
terrain for months following doctor's orders for vocalist Billy Lunn to
rest after being diagnosed with nodules on his vocal chords. This will be
a very special one-off and one of the band's last live sets of the year.
The Subways' '1am' not only marked the band's first ever single in the
autumn of 2004, but it was also the legendary, first ever single released
by Transgressive to huge critical acclaim. Limited to just 500 7"-vinyls,
you'll now be lucky to pick up a copy off eBay for under £100.00. The trio
have now sold around a quarter of a million copies worldwide of their
acclaimed debut album 'Young For Eternity', and are currently working on
the long-anticipated follow-up.
Occurring across the weekend of Friday the 17th to the Sunday 19th
November 2006, the TRANSGRESSIVE ROADSHOW is the first in a series of
mammoth-sized, 1,000-capacity-plus warehouse parties that Transgressive
Records is due to stage. More shows regionally will follow into 2007. It
features live and DJ sets from artists old and new to the
ever-multifarious, influential Transgressive Records roster, and a few
surprises beyond - including decks sessions from Simian Mobile Disco,
Statik, MSTRCRFT, and Eat Your Own Ears/Transgressive DJs.
The full line-up for the Manchester leg of the Roadshow dates is as follows:

JEREMY WARMSLEY'S classic 'I Believe In The Way You Move' - approved/supported by 'The Times' and 'NME' and Zane Lowe and Radio 2 and Radio 4, and... it's out today on 2 x beautiful 7"-vinyl format and CD, plus online at all good digital retailers, including iTunes (our Warmo was on the front-page of it, and all). Purchase the deluxe physical formats (which, by the way, contain - across them - four sumptuous new songs…) via the following links:
To celebrate, Jeremy’s got shed-loads of truly awesome activity going on,
summarised best in bullet-point form, we feel. As follows…
-A massive tour across the rest of Sept, October and a lot of November,
too (including shows with Hot Chip and King Creosote, among others);
- In-store appearances in London across this week, the first one occurring
this evening (Monday 25th) at Pure Groove, Holloway Road, London, 6pm, and
the second occurring on Saturday in Bugbear’s new vinyl shop on Parkway,
Camden Town, again early evening. Then, later that night, he plays an all
ages gig at Conway Hall alongside one of our fave new bands, Cajun Dance
Party;
- A competition for fans to send in their favourite short story and have
Jeremy turn it into a song, and release it as a b-side to his next single
in November (! - holy jock-straps, that's a good'un) - check out
his website or his myspace for more
info on that, or, indeed, for further tour date info, etc.
We must also pre-warn you: his incredible record 'The Art of Fiction' is
out on Monday October 9th. It's one of the year's best, and we wouldn't
lie.
